Term 2/3- Nominations

29 Apr 2025 by Brodie Atkinson

To All Parents and Students,

Hope everyone enjoyed the Easter break and are ready to get stuck into term 2/3. Term 1 has come and gone and over the last few weeks we have been gearing up with a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure we have teams nominated for all the different associations and allocating students who have nominated into these teams the best we can.

The task of getting all students into the correct teams and ensuring we have enough but not too many is always a balancing act.

This is never going to be perfect but on the scale of things we are doing the best we can.
I spoke at the Winter Launch about the role of the Coach and also the Parent especially in school sport and at this level. The key take away from that was not to worry so much about it, be supportive but not play your sport through your child.

We have sport starting this week for many of the teams, however we are still getting requests for students who have not been nominated to join and also have a large number of requests for refunds after nominations.

Nominations for Term 2/3 closed last term and over 5 weeks ago. We extended that to give every student the opportunity to nominate.

It makes it extremely difficult once we have nominated teams in the different associations to have students then pull out and its generally due to this conflicting with their sport out side of school, information they didn't have 6 weeks ago.

This now places us into situations where teams are now short of players and potentially teams don't have enough and we may have to forfeit or pull players from other sides.

On the flip side we have also a number of students who haven't nominated and now want to play which can mean some teams have too many players for what we have nominated for.

There will be no further nominations accepted from today, and if you have nominated you need to stay committed to your nomination.

There are a number of students who are not playing school sport due to external sporting commitments, and will take the opportunity to remind them that as part of your commitment to the college, college sport takes precedence of community or club sport.

Its also a reminder for all parents and students to ensure they have downloaded the Stack App and importantly are part of the correct Access Groups. This platform is used to inform students and parents the most update information around fixtures, team selections. venues, times and any changes that may happen at the last minute.

We are looking to provide the best experience for everyone and continually improve the programs we have in place and these platforms are an essential part of it.

When nominating please ensure it is done in the allocated time given and before nominating sit with your child to understand what they are committing to.

Wish all teams the very best for for the upcoming season, we look forward to supporting all of them and the opportunity to meet and connect with the families at these games.
